We began with a question in Penang: why have so many people heard of Tuak, yet so few truly experienced it? One bottle, one market and one conversation at a time, we are making the drink — and the culture behind it — easier to discover.

Drunken Paddy × D-Kombucha Bar brings traditional Sarawak Tuak together with kombucha. Both begin with time, patience and fermentation — bringing heritage into a fresh, modern drinking experience.

A few things people often ask before their first pour.

Is Sarawak Tuak made from rice or coconut? +

Our Sarawak Tuak is made using glutinous rice, not coconut sap. Toddy is a different drink; the two have distinct ingredients and traditions.

What does Tuak taste like? +

Expect a gently sweet or sweet-and-tart fermented rice character, with subtle aroma and natural batch variation.

What is Langkau? +

Langkau is a spirit distilled from Tuak. Our Langkau is approximately 40% ABV and is best enjoyed slowly and responsibly.

How do I enjoy Tuak? +

Start chilled. Enjoy it neat, over ice, with food, or as part of a cocktail.

Do you provide Tuak for events and bars? +

Yes. We welcome event enquiries, private gatherings, wholesale and bar or café collaborations.

Is Tuak halal? +

No. Tuak is an alcoholic beverage and is not halal-certified. For adults of legal drinking age only.
